POC'S
'Tribute to LeMans' 4Hr Enduro
Willow
Springs Int Raceway
Rosemond,
CA
POC
hosts this real fun night enduro called the "Tribute to LeMans"
at the "fastest road in the west", Willow Springs. I teamed up
with car owner Rudy Poe in the # 157 white Porsche, running the R3
class. The car is excellently serviced by Hergesheimer Motorsports out
of Lake Forest, CA.
Mark
Hergesheimer had his hands full with service to Brent Martini's 180
GT3R, with co-driver Cort Wagner, as well as Patrick Flanagan's car.
Laura
did a fantastic job in keeping things organized and everyone on the crew
was a lot of fun. Rudy was great to have as a co-driver. He took the
start of the race and stayed out of trouble, bringing me in a healthy
car.
As
the race ensued there were a couple of interesting moments, one of which
was a blinding dust/smoke cloud between turn 1 and 2 that seemed to
never end, at speed that was a bit un-nerving. A while after the sun
set, I brought the car in for Rudy's 2nd stint which went really well.
I
took the last night stint, and we finished the race with a win in class.
It was a very good time, with very good people. I send my gratitude to
everyone on the crew, especially Owen for getting my seat squared away
and filling my gas tank up, as well as the other drivers on our team.
Rudy for being such a great co-driver, my Sponsor, Xtreme Island
Designs, my Dad for coming out and rooting me on, Bill for making the
trip, and Barry for being such a big help.
Way
to go POC!
